Paris Photo Daily #136

Magdalena Martin
This photograph by Magdalena Martin captures the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel with the Louvre Pyramid in the background, bathed in soft, pastel light.
Martin, a Swedish photographer born in Stockholm in 1972, has been based in Paris since 2013, where she moved to pursue her passion for photography after running an interior design business. Self-taught, she started by capturing the streets of Paris, often portraying an "empty" city, before expanding to dance, portraits, and weddings, with her cinematic style exhibited globally through galleries like YellowKorner.
The Arc, built between 1806 and 1808 to honor Napoleon’s victories, stands in the Place du Carrousel, framing I.M. Pei’s 1989 glass pyramid, a modern entrance to the Louvre Museum.
