Joel Meyerowitz

Paris Photo Daily #19

Joel Meyerowitz - 1967

Joel Meyerowitz's 1967 photograph outside Le Mabillon captures a perfect slice of Saint-Germain-des-Prés street life.

As one of my favorite photographers, his keen eye for the unexpected delights me here - a man with a cigarette in one hand appears to play a harmonica, while a curious dog peeks through the café's red terrace barrier, and a figure in a striking yellow coat strolls by.

Meyerowitz's ability to find these whimsical, unscripted moments while maintaining sophisticated composition makes his work endlessly engaging. I look forward to sharing more of his playful observations of Paris in future editions.
