Catherine Godefroy

Paris Photo Daily #130

Catherine Godefroy

This nighttime view of the Seine River was captured by Catherine Godefroy, a contemporary Parisian photographer who shifted to photography after 42 years in tourism. She has turned her lifelong artistic passion into a reality.

The image highlights the Conciergerie on the left, a medieval palace turned prison famous for holding Marie-Antoinette before her execution during the French Revolution. The bridges in the scene link Île de la Cité to the right bank.

The photo, taken at dusk, showcases how Paris comes alive after sundown. The river mirrors the city’s illuminated landmarks. Dusk is my favorite time to wander through Paris and along the Seine River, and Catherine’s photography helps me relive these moments.
