Bruno Ehrs - Rooftops

Paris Photo Daily #53

This rooftop view of Paris comes from Bruno Ehrs, one of Sweden's most distinguished photographers whose career spans over four decades. Born in Stockholm in 1953, Ehrs is known for his masterful eye for geometry and composition - elements displayed in this architectural study.

His approach to photography, which he developed while working as an architectural photographer at the Stockholm City Museum in the 1970s, is characterized by what he calls "stripped-down simplicity," where nothing is left to chance.

"I always try to find the geometric lines in the picture," Ehrs has said. "If you move 10 centimeters to the right or left, the entire balance in the image can be lost." This attention to composition is evident in Rooftops, where his architectural expertise and careful consideration of light and form create this rooftop portrait.

Ehrs's work is represented in major institutions, including the Moderna Museet and National Museum in Stockholm, and he has held over 40 solo exhibitions worldwide.
